Kris Humphreys CEA®, ESET
Kris Humphreys graduated from the Energy Sustainability Engineering Technology (ESET) program at NSCC Middleton Campus in 2010. After spending 20 years in the construction industry as a controller and bookkeeper, she decided to gain more knowledge in the sustainability field.
During the two year program, Kris created start-up company Off the Fossil Energy, an energy focused firm specializing in thermal imaging: winning second place in the Innovation New Business Ideas Competition. Upon graduating, Kris pursued her interest in sustainable energy resources, with particular interest in anaerobic digesters for farms and gasification units. In January of 2012, she became a Certified Energy Analyst with Natural Resources Canada, under the Energuide program. Kris has performed over one-hundred forty energy audits on residential homes, educating home owners about energy efficiency, increased comfort and health in their homes.
Volunteer activities include sitting on the Board of Directors at Bay Windfields. Born in Middleton NS, Kris spent two years away from her hometown Bridgetown, returning in 1992 to raise her three children. In 2002, she moved to Arlington Road where she resides on her 15-acre organic farm. Growing healthy food for family and friends and practicing good Earth stewardship are the backbone of Kris’ everyday life.
